What's the "best" sword for self defence?
Quite the loaded question I know, but what is your personal best weapon.
A charging lion, a bad guy with a panga, a group of BG's on the prowl, you name it, what sword would you choose. Single-handed (with shield or without), double-handed, double-sided, what's your preference.
I already have a Cold Steel Cutlass Machete but am looking at upgrading.
Thinking about a single-handed sword, but also looking toward a katana-style sword, so the direction I'm going is still up in the air at the moment.
So what do you have / want?

Definitely a samurai-style one. Not an expert in them, but my friend that does Aikido speaks highly of them... even the wooden training swords (he showed me how he can cut through a cardboard side with one, and said how their sensei cut through a wooden block with one).
