    Default PWS

    Good day Gents.

Was looking at the PWS Catalog and I saw that they list their calibers as 223 Wylde and .308. Does this mean they are just suitable for 223/308 and not for 5.56/7.62 NATO ammo?

    The 223 Wylde accepts 223 and 5,56.

The 308 accepts 7,62x51 no problem.

I have tried both the MK412 and the MK114.

They are using "civilian" calibres for the civilian sales imo.

Thanks Khumba does this go for Remington aswel as they are also advertising 223/308? (R15/R25)

I did some research on the net and I find most people reckon that you can use 223/308 ammo in rifles chambered for 5.56/7.62 Nato but not the other way around? Obviously I will take your word for it, but what is the peoples issue then about using the Nato ammo in 223/308 chambered rifles? Most say its A no no?

Werner in my reply I refer to PWS specifically not all others.

Imo the Remington R15 and R25 are 223 and 308. I have shot 7,62x51 in a R25 without issues but it may differ from rifle to rifle.

The problem with 223 and 5,56 in a semi-auto rifle may only become evident or problematic when you have a hot (from shooting) rifle and you use 5,56 ammo in a 223 chambered rifle - the biggest issue or problem will probably be extraction if/when you encounter issues.

Thanks Khumba, so to make A long story short, if I am going to shoot more military surplus ammo (5.56/7.62 Nato) then normal 223/308 ammo it will be better to get A rifle chambered specifficaly for 5.56/7.62 Nato? iow for example, If I will be shooting mainly Nato ammo it wont be worth getting the Rem R15/R25?

Imo get a 5,56 or if you get a 223 chambered rifle plan to have the chamber reamed if you are going to shoot more mil surplus ammo.

If you get a 308 chambered AR it should imo be gtg with 7,62x51 ammo as is.

The DPMS Oracle 308 we sell will be gtg on 308 and 7,62x51.
