Doesn't look anything like the violin spider either. The violin spiders have a dowel-shaped rear and prominent fangs (or whatever those are).

It's not a rain spider or a button spider, the image isn't great and one hasn'tmuch idea about size, but what it looks like is a young Wolf Spider.

    Glenvista.

I removed a huge rainspider from my sons room a couple of days ago. About the size of my open hand. They are cool little creatures. I used a ice cream bucket and lid.

My rule is that if it can harm my children, it dies. If not, I let it be or in case of a large one I will relocate it to the garden.

It wasn't very big, but it got my attention because it doesn't look like the usual visitors I come across in my garage.

Wolf spiders are midly venomous but non lethal. The thing about spider bites however, apart from the venom, is not so much the potency of the venom, but the bite itself. Septicemia is a major factor with spider bites, their mouthparts are less than hygienic, and carry some nasty bugs. Further to that there are many different types of wolf spiders.

I was also bitten by a violin spider a couple years ago and almost lost my hand, still have a scar where the bastid bite my finger. A spider bite specialist here in benoni eventually sorted the problem out
