Re: TacQM-Warrior Race 1 February 2014
Continued from post #1
Physically everything went ok until the mud crawl.
We had scaled walls, crawled beneath barbed wire, nets and plastic sheeting. I had choked on some very mucky water going over a floating log and been dunked in murky water, the mud however, was a game changer.
It sapped my energy. To stop and rest meant that one sank deeper. Being the heaviest, I sank to new depths.
However this is where team work came into it. We helped each other along, either by placing our foot on our team mate & pushing forward or linking arms and pulling. At this point I must also mention the camaraderie between participants.
When one reached the first mud wall I thought it was over. it must have been close to 100m long, however perhaps someone can tell us the real distance.
Little did I know, the mud became more vicious, dragging us down.
As this is the centenary year of WWI, I could not help but reflect on what it must have been like.
However this is where the highlight of the race was too, total strangers helping each other out. We sometime paid it forward and in turn received assistance too.
It really does refresh ones faith in humanity.
Imagine such an atmosphere throught the whole country, but, I digress.
After the mud I literally could not see because the of the grime interfering with my contact lenses.
I was forced to place them in my mouth, careful not to inhale or exhale them as we continued on the track.
After the one obstacle I came across a spectator bloke with a water bottle, I asked for water, rinsed my eyes, used HIS T shirt to clean my fingers so I could clean my fingers in order that I could then rinse the my lenses. It improved my vision dramatically, but was still very painful.
My eyeballs were felt like they were rolling around a sandpit......

Recent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2
