    Default Transitions

Working on transitioning between targets at equal distance (ie no sight focus variances).

Is it a hip thing, or an arm thing?

Ie rotate at the hips, or move the arms to get the pistol to the next target?

I understand at some point it might be both, but for training purposes, which one works best?

I am dry firing this. At present, hips feel faster, but I cannot objectively measure it.

As I understand it (and I concede that I know a lot less than you) it's an eye thing. The rest comes naturally. 1911 told me to turn my head and focus on the target ... the rest would follow.

Valuable input, thanks. I do move head and eyes to next target first, just felt like moving the pistol itself is faster with the hips than just the arms.

Same thing from BigT. Transition drills are something I need to work on quite badly (Amongst everything else!)

Like a tank turrent move from the hips, not the arms. Remember also to stop the gun (very briefly) for each target.

Doing it from the hips feels like a much more stable "platform" to me.

Move hip and shoulders as one as Ikor said like a tank turret.

Agree with PP (and something BigT and 1911 both 'drum in')...

Head first (fast snap), then from the hips...

imho, i would think the best "theory", would be to turn your head and focus on the target and push out again to the target while aligning your sights, as if from the draw.
otherwise you can whiplash past the target if you move too fast.
i would think you can semi-push out faster than swinging as fast as possible and possibly over-swinging and having to move back to the target.
i would think, turn hips and stand square to target, then push out and shoot.
