    Default CLEANING A SILENCER

    Hi peeps

Can someone advise on how to clean a silencer? I can see some gunk in the silencer but I am to scared to try and brush it out like you would on your barrel.

    Thanks

Gunk (rim fire) or carbon (center fire).

On my Ase Utra (steel suppressor for use on a center fire cartridge rifle) I spray the inside liberally with WD40 or Tool in A Can - let it stand up right for the excess penetrating oil to drain and shoot out the debris if any.

First shot makes a nice puff.

DO NOT SE A SONIC CLEANER ON AN ALUMINIUM SUPPRESSOR!

    IT will work for steel

Carburator spray to remove carbon, available from most motor parts stores.

I heard that you can soak the suppressor in petrol/2-stroke mix to clean it. Is this advisable?

    Hi SJC

I actually ended up soaking it in diesel....worked just fine.

How about using peroxide? It eats away carbon in a flash.
