Default Is there anyone who imports specialty knives?

My brother is looking for a fairly specific knife for bush use. Who is the go-to person to organize importing one?

Get a custom knife maker to make you one.

    E-mail Anton here: info@sa-tactical.co.za

Maybe he can help you. They import knives. I imported a knife through them, was expensive and took a while but is worth it!

pdh, would love to, but the specific steel isn't readily available and is a bitch to work with.

Dirk, thanks, I'll get in touch with them.

What steel are you looking for?

there a re a lot of local makers using exotic steels. Try posting on Sablade.co.za someone there will tell you for sure if someone local can make it.

i know a few makers using m390 and Des Horn's nitrobe 77 is pretty cool!

for bush use is a bit vague though, do you mean large survival type knife? I've been wanting a big beater in cpm-3v for a while now!

If you know who the overseas maker is then just import it yourself. Much cheaper.

    A Survive! GSO-5

The metal CPM-3V. RJOwen, I think you and my brother would get on well. That's exactly what he wants as well. General field use, including splitting of logs and such.

As a "survival" type knife for a big blade there's nothing better than 3v according to my research! It's as tough as any of the good carbon and tool steels but has edge retention much better than most.

i started a project for a very large 3v bush knife and a k294 hunter slicer with a local maker but he's having some issues recently and is SUPER BACKLOGGED so I'm not expecting anything to come from it for another 2 years at least. I'm still waiting for a M390 set from him: large folder, 240mm gyuto and 180mm parer, almost 2 years!

BUT: even overseas makers who are willing to take orders for 3v have 2 to 3 year waiting periods so I'm not too fussed, I'll wait for him to sort his stuff out(he's that good!)

again in though, there might be other local makers willing to work with those steels. 2 years ago there were only 2 or 3 makers using M390, now there are a lot more. Probably a bigger issue is actually getting the CPM3v plates(or however they sell the raw steel) locally. A post on Sablade.co.za will quickly find out if anything is available though. We have a lot of AMAZING local knife makers, from what I've heard our guild is up there with the top in the world!

Have you tried stuart smith he is a knife guild guild member I a have lots of respect for him. I would have one of his blades but we talked and what I wanted isnt his style. But I still still recommend him.
