SPORTSMANSHIP VS RULES ?
So you notice that a competitor, in your squad, is using a FA that does not quite fit in the Discipline he is shooting in.
He has had it Modded, customized, mag well fitted etc
Be it IDPA, IPSC etc
What would you do?
Keep quiet?
Report to SO/MD?
How would you report such a matter without feeling like a "Box" ?
I'm not referring to something that you notice that may be unsafe, that's another matter entirely, but rather to something that may IYO give that person a competitive edge.

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP VS RULES ?
I'm assuming it is a clubshoot? Generally at the higher level competitions the equipment gets a once-over by an RO/SO.

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP VS RULES ?
I would mention it to the shooter in private. That way he/she knows that I know that he/she is a cheater.
It gives them a chance to correct it themselves or to come clean.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:
But I know one thing that never dies,
the glory of the great dead.

The rules are there for everyone. If you are the one breaking the rules then you are only spiting yourself.
I would personally make a comment to the MD and state that it's anonymous and to keep your name out of the discussion with the shooter.

not only the guns , their ammo as well.
i wouldn't bother. a box will remain a boxlive out your imagination , not your history.

Private chat with the person, then with other team mates

Approach him/her and ask an innocent question ... "I have also been considering that but I am unsure if it is according to the rules, do you have some advice for me?"
That way you can have a discussion without the other person feeling accused ...

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP VS RULES ?
Depends on the situation.
If it's a league or nationals, or the guy is intentionally trying to gain an unfair advantage, make a fuss.
If it's only a club match and the dude is just shooting for fun and obviously not trying to win, why bother?

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP VS RULES ?
If he wasn't trying to win he would likely have entered the correct division.

Like I say, depends on the situation...
BigT, I know for you high-strung Jo'burg types that is hard to believe, but some people really don't care that much about winning and mostly just shoot for fun. Come do a few club matches down in CT sometime and you'll see what I mean.
