How long before you must give a statement

Just a quick question, if you are involved in a shooting incident, you have to report it within 24 hours. How long do you have before you must make a statement.

I would not make one without the advise or even without a good lawyer present.

I have spoken to a lawyer, he said you do not have to make statement within 24 hours,I would just like advice on that.

If that's the only advice he gave you after you sought his counsel in the event of a shooting incident, I would look for another lawyer.

Where do you get the 24 hours rule? Or did I miss something?

If it wasnt serious enough to call the cops immidiatly then I would prefer not to wake sleeping goats...
