I was part of the caucus meeting in Stellenbosch on Thursday evening. We don't often see Paul down here so it was a rare pleasure. I had not met Johan Schoeman before so that was a bigger pleasure. The groundswell of demand for more concerted action following the negative publicity of the Pistorius trial and GFSA's opportunistic use of it, had been noted, so we took the opportunity of their visit to discuss matters. Although we have all agreed on a plan, it originated mostly with Paul and Johan, so I would rather leave the leadership to them in terms of how and when it will be revealed. It will be in the next few days, but in the meantime there has to be a lot of e mails back and forth to refine the details and the wording.

I can say that it will not resemble SAGA's paid membership model, it will be volunteer action based, and will not appeal to those who want to pay a subscription then sit back while others do the work. That cannot work and has not worked. We need something more powerful.

I really like that concept. Paid full-time volunteers are financially unrealistic, but if a wide enough support base is utilised frequently enough we can do so much more.
