Glock 19 vs CZ P-07 Duty; For me personally
I will be buying my first handgun this month. The main application will be EDC but I would also like to get involved with IDPA.
I have shot quite a bit previously with Glocks (17, 19, 23). The 19 fits my hand well and I can reach all controls comfortably. I shoot quite okay with the 19, but when I point with it quickly it points slightly to high. I will be more than happy if I buy the 19.
I handled the P-07 Duty today and it confused me. It fits my hand even better than the Glock 19, it points better/more natural for me and the trigger is much nicer in SA. I also like the DA/SA concept. The problem with the Duty for me is that I can't reach the slide release when I hold it normally. I have to twist/re-position my hand to reach it.
My question is would I be at a tactical disadvantage in a sticky situation if I have the Duty on my side, considering that I can't comfortably reach the slide release? Your knowledgeable responses would be much appreciated.

Take the one which speaks to you more and practice with it.

Hit the slide release with your support hand?

Looks like you have made your mind up on the duty.
Just use the overhand method a pull the slide back instead of the slide stop.

If you need more than 16 rounds a SD scenario then it's a fire-fight of note, sure there will be time to drop it with your left thumb.
In a competition scenario you will obviously reload before running dry, thus no need to touch the slide release.

Both are really good guns hey. Similar size, similar shooting and so on. I just preferred the Duty as it felt better in my hand.

I have to make the same choice but as I have waited this long I may as well wait for the new P07 unless a real bargain comes my way.

Re: Glock 19 vs CZ P-07 Duty; For me personally
I prefer using the left side thumb to drop the slide stop with a right handed shooter. So that's a non issue.
I wouldn't worry about what fits your hand best or what talks to you. You will find that after a bit of time whatever you're using will fit well.
