Looking for new Multitool

Howzit guys,
I'm looking into getting a new Multitool, leatherman only, I'm basically stuck between two choices. Either the new Surge or the OHT. Does anyone have one or the other and if so how are they? Opinions please.

Further info, its for edc. Nothing specific just general uses and tinkering. Size and weight is not an issue between them. I've been into the local outdoor shop and played with the surge but they didnt have an OHT on display sadly.

I am very happy with my super tool 2......but you dont get them anymore

The surge is a nice tool as you can replace/reorientate the blades and things to suit you. The only problem is the size, it's really big. I don't have any experience with the OHT.

The wave 2 is most popular and one of my faves. However the Supertool 300 for me is the best full size tool for the price. My everyday Leatherman though is a Skeletool CX, it's light, small and has everything I need.

Thinking back, any Leatherman is great. Get the one you like the most and which fits your needs best. The local support on the warranty is top notch. They generally just replace your tool with a new/refurbished tool if anything breaks on yours.

+1 on the support.

My friend broke my pliers, when i took it in they wanted to replace it with a newer model.....i told the guy i was not willing to part with it for a newer model, he said he would see what he could do, a week later i had a new pliers and one or 2 other things replaced for free.

Their service is absolute brilliant. I will never buy another brand, their service just blew me away.

Thanks guys! I must agree on the service and support behind Leatherman, it's awesome. I have a wave 2 in my e&e bag and I currently edc a Charge tti but am finding it a bit a small for some tasks and I have huge sentimental value in it so would rather put it in the display cabinet after its years of service now than break it again.

On the super tool 300, I saw one in black yesterday and really liked it. Guess I'll only really know once I've got hands on time with a OHT.

I have been using the OHT for about 6 months now. I use the screw driver mostly and it passes muster. I have used the wire cutter a few times with no trouble. What I like is the size and handiness of the out the front feature , which is what I like about Gerber tools. IMO it's a winner. tims

i would advise against the black versions. they look very nice but the black coating comes off resonably easy and looks terrible when it does

I can +1 the Leatherman. Anyone of those that best suits your requirement. I've EDC'ed my Wave2 for a few years now (5 perhaps) and it's saved my butt a few times. Just don't attack 5mm wire with it though, and you're good to go. If you can afford the extra bit, get the Ti - the better blade will be a welcome add-on.
