http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/Ne...house-20140420
A couple was killed and another was seriously injured during an attack at a guest house in Harrismith, Phuthaditjhaba on Sunday morning, Free State police said.
Around midnight on Sunday police found a couple aged 62 and 46 shot and killed in the bedroom at Tweevley Guest Farm, police spokesperson Mmako Mophiring said.
Another couple was also allegedly attacked.
"A man was allegedly stabbed with a spade fork in the chest whilst his wife was shot in the arm and also stabbed with the same spade fork in the face."
Mophiring said the wife fled the scene with her children, who were unharmed, in the couple's car.
The husband was later taken to a nearby hospital.
No arrests have yet been made.
The cause of the attacks was unclear.

RIP!
Friend of mine was involved with capturing cattle thieves in Ladybrand. Took a sharpened spade fork off one of the thieves. Those things are nasty.

Re: Couple killed in Free State guest house
A female colleague of mine was stabbed with a spade fork on her way to work (she commutes by train) about three weeks ago. She is having to use anxiety medication and seeing a psychologist for counseling. They stole her handbag with cellphone/wallet, the normal stuff.
The wounds in her arm aren't that bad, but the psychological trauma is severe. Especially after her parents were attacked in their house and severely assaulted a year or two ago. At one stage the attackers told her mother that they had already killed her father (which wasn't the case).
This attack opened up a whole new can of worms for her.

Spade and fork, two different gardening implements.

Terrible news to hear, just shows that violence is not only limited to firearms.

Re: Couple killed in Free State guest house
It would appear that demanding things from your victims is swiftly going out of fashion: first thing you do now is assault and murder them, before making off with their possessions. I wondered when it would eventually escalate to this point.
