Daniel Defence Vs. DPMS?
At the moment saving and scratching to hopefully afford one of the above.
Want a short, heavy barrel version with a picattiny receiver that continues onto the hand guard.
That way it can hopefully double as a tactical/varmint rifle.
Any ideas on the better rifle? Have read plenty of reviews online but as they are both available from hailstorm in SA I'd like to know what you guys think

Re: Daniel Defence Vs. DPMS?
There is a price difference between the 2 rifles, on the DD, you pay for the extra attention to detail. I'll happily own either and have an eye on a rifle or two from each of those manufacturers.
The words, short, heavy barrel, tactical and varmint don't really work together.
Decide what it most important and chose a rifle primarily for that purpose. Tell us a little bit more on what you want to do with it.

Re: Daniel Defence Vs. DPMS?
I fondled both the DPMS and the Daniel Defense (it's a US gun, so s not c :P ), and they're both really really nice. The DD felt a lot better than the DPMS though. The awesome thing with the DD are those quad rails extending all the way to the action, so you have lots of space and positions for attachments.

Re: Daniel Defence Vs. DPMS?
I have a DPMS. I bought it b/c it was in my price range. The Daniel Defense is easily better quality even though I'm very happy with my DPMS. It is the A3 Classic with 20" barrel.

Re: Daniel Defence Vs. DPMS?
I would only consider the 16 inch or longer barrel especially for what you want to do with it! The 16" is a nice all round rifle!
