    Default Late afternoon Gemsbuck

Shot this cow late Saturday afternoon in the Brandfort area of the Freestate.

9.3x62 with 250 grain Rhino penetrator. Shot went a bit high ( shooting sticks where on very uneven rocky ground and I had to shoot quickly) and spined the buck. Dropped where it stood.

Right horn measured 42 inches exactly and left horn measured 41 and three quarter inches.

One of the nicest tasting meats in my opinion.

An Oryx, is one of the toughest animals I've ever seen and hunted. I have a lot of respect for them.

That is a very nice one you took there. Did you manage to weigh the animal or the meat?

From my experience, the cows normally have much longer horns than the bulls.
