150gr Game Kings on antelope
So our hunting trip is booked vir August. I want to use 150gr Game kings in my 308 because they group really well. Will it be enough for kudu and bwb? Rifle is a 1:12 twist thus I do not know is heavier bullets will group. I can get 150 gr super hammerheads if yoi guys think those are better?
Shot placement will be high on the agenda

Re: 150gr Game Kings on antelope
After using 180gn gamekings on an impala in my .308 I will never again use any bullets from sierra for hunting. The bullet completely broke up and did not reach the vitals. It was a soggy mess where the bullet broke up with nothing usable on that side. I don't trust the bullets to do the job on an impala nevermind something bigger especially if it is going to be 150gn

If you hit bone, you will have problems. My brother shot a springbok with a 168gr game king, and although it passed through and through, it was a glorious mess. Front leg bone splintered into the entire shoulder chest cavity. The bullet caused quite a lot of meat damage on the opposite shoulder.

Re: 150gr Game Kings on antelope
Having used game kings in 150 gr for the .308 on blesbuck, i would rather stay away and use premium bonded bullets like Nosler Accubond. Granted I havd the 150gr speeding along at 2750 fps. I shot two Blesbuck both head shots at close range ( under 100m), both times the bullet upon striking sounded as if it had ricocheted off the head. Animal went down and never got up. However I recovered one of the bullets in the neck of the Blesbuck and the bullet had completely seperated.
The next hunting trip was with 180gr Accubonds, 1 head shot from close range and two neck shots the bullet passed through the animals side on leaving neat holes and very dead animals.

Thin copper jackets when compared to other bullets, I don't like the bullet construction for hunting purposes. See above.

Re: 150gr Game Kings on antelope
Thank you for the inputs. I want load GS custom bullets but they are sold out everywhere and are on back order. Will try and source some noslers or other premium bullets. The gamekings work nicely on headshots though.
Does anyone have experience with the Sako super hammerheads?

Super Hammerhead is a purpose built bonded bullet that will do all you need for larger game in 180gr, not always impressed with 150gr .30 bullets but in this configuration it should be fine.
