Tumbler from a photostat machine
This is the newest design of a tumbler using parts from a photostat machine that broke down...my son Ruan and I build this tumbler using parts from the photostat machine...

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
Nice but that one hell of a footprint for a tumbler. Not many have space for something like that

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
Seriously industrial piece of kit. Nicely done.
My dad and I mounted a bucket to a spit braai motor and mounted it on the wall with an angled bracket. The bucket sits at about 45 degrees and gives plenty of movement in the media.

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
I do not have space problems in this regard, the gun shop has enough room to maneuver around the rifle racks...I wanted a strong design, something that has enough bearings, rollers and a strong motor, this motor is not from the photostat machine parts list...I sourced this motor from a previous build tumbler... It really is working silently and strong already, I put some brass in a glass jar with medium and it is currently running and doing it`s tumbling exercises ...

Very nice job. I can't see from the photo's but you might have to put 'stops' on the rollers to stop the drum from wandering off to the side.

What a great idea. You probably end up with more cases than you started off with.

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
Chops, the tumbler is already in operation, the large glass jar contains 60x .404 Jeffery brass at the moment and the glass jar is comfortable turning around it`s own axle...no stops needed...I can even see the brass inside the glass jar...

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
There will be an upgrade build based on this design...a friend asked if I will be willing to build a similar tumbler but with some changes ..:
Double drum system with rpm at 60 rpm/minute..a little bit faster than the single drum example of this thread. The frame will be strong as well using 38x38x1.6 rectangular tubing. Two drums, stronger motor.
I will be commencing shortly with this design...Updates will follow....

Re: Tumbler from a photostat machine
Gert, please could you explain the logic behind the spring?
It seems like the motor is suspended from the spring, but how do you tension the belt like that?Israeli Carry is for dead people
