Default What to do in cape town? 2 euro shooting/hunting guys visiting

    Hello,

a friend and myself are staying in cape town for a few nights. The table mountain is closed due to the not so stellar weather and we're looking for things to do.

I'd guess that you guys would be the right bunch to ask. Are there any nice hunting/shooting shops? We always enjoy checking out the local gun shop, and some of the stuff that is sold here are well priced compared to back home.

Are there any rental ranges that don't charge you R995 for 20 rounds of 7.62x39? The ones I've seen seem to orient themselves toward people who never held a gun before.

Is there anything else that we must'nt miss while here? Recommendations on good seafood restaurants would be appreciated! Are there any nice ways to taste a lot of wine without driving around? Like a wine oriented restaurant?

we just came down from a fantastic plains game hunt up north, so no safari recommendations, please! :).

Plenty great seafood restaurants in Cape Town. Wine farm tours are easily organized via hotels. Otherwise take a taxi to Groot Constantia or Buitenverwachting, they are both close, have great food and wine. You can also get to Hout Bay for some great seafood at The Lookout, plus many more. Nice pub lunch on a rainy Sunday, head over to The Forresters Arms (Forries) in Newlands.

If you are close to false bay, speak to Keith, he has lots of nice guns to play with.
Also pop in at Kalkbay for Kalkies, for some lekker seafood.

If you are close to Stelenbosch....lots and lots of wine farms.

+1 for Keith for a fun day shoot:

Best burger and beer in Cape Town pop off to the Taproom at Devil's Peak Brewery:

Best way for wine tasting is a wine tour or festival, there are touring companies that take you out to a bunch of farms ans restaurants for a day to taste both wines and food can not make any recommendations. Sorry no festivals on at the moment.

For restaurants all of these I've or family members have tried, they are great, either offer a pairing menu or have a good wine selection.
In Franschoek (both very pricey but worth it):
    Haute Cabriere
    The Tasting Room
    In Stellenbosch:
    Rust-en-Vrede
    In Cape Town:
    Aubergine

For normal seafood restaurant in Cape Town I would say Beluga (warning lots of hipster may be encountered)
For best fish and chips experiences go to Hout Bay Harbor, also very decent seafood restaurant there.
For the best sea food experiences a trip up the West Coast is needed to one of the authentic West Coast style seafood in one of the restaurants situated on the beach, Langebaan is the nearest one called the Strandloper: http://www.strandloper.com/

Added: If you go to Safari and Outdoor Stellenbosch, it is situated on the Bottelary road which offers the best version of South Africa's own wine cultivar Pinotage. Try Bellevue and Kaapzicht.
