260lb catfish caught in Italy
By Angling Times
Fish Catches
13 June 2014 10:09
This colossal catfish was caught by Italian angler Dino Ferrari from the River Po Northern Italy.
It measured an incredible 8.6 feet (259cm) and weighed a staggering 260lb making it one of the largest catfish ever landed in Europe. Dino, who fishes for German tackle firm Team Sportex, has plenty of experience of fishing the Po having landed numerous other cats over 200lb from the waterway. However, the huge fish is still some way short of the official IGFA record, which is a whopping 297lb 9oz cat landed by Hungarian angler Zsedely Attila back in 2011.Be ready for anything, and if his head is not at least two meters away from the body, do not 'assume' he is dead and out of the fight. - Ikor

Re: Big fish!
Well I'll be damned!
Looking at the size of that mouth, I can believe some of the stories we hear about divers in some of our big dams who don't surface again.. That is if we have such big cat fish here hehe

Re: Big fish!
Something is not right with the picture. Maybe the Oomie is very, very small? But 260lbs is about 117kg. That fish looks to weigh a metric shit ton.
Ie. Die ou wat daai vis gevang het, lieg!

Re: Big fish!
That is huge! I have also heard those stories of the big catfish sightings by one of our dam walls. One of the SAPS divers also commented on the size of them.

Re: Big fish!
The picture is definitively out of context. It looks at least 6 meters long in the pic!

Re: Big fish!
It is a big fish that is totally ruined by the camera perspective. The hunting boys do exactly the same. You stand as far back as possible from the subject, then you get the subject real close and depending on the lens you get this result.
Rule 1. When you want to illustrate size then no fancy camera angles and have something in the photo for scale. One too many wasted sunsets and one too many for the road .........
