    Default Hare

I was out stalking springbok this afternoon when I spotted this chap sitting less than two meters from my boot. For a moment I was tempted to slip the S & W mod 19 from its holster, too close for the rifle, and turn it into a pie (with lots of bacon and mushrooms) but in the end I slipped my camera out of my pocket and turned it into a photo.

If you had not seen it first it would have woken you up good and proper with its take-off. Good to see the smaller creatures in nature. Had one take off from a bare cultivated field hiding under very little vegetation when we were hunting guinea. Gave it a loud tally-ho as it sped off and dissappeared into the long grass.

I grew up in your neck of the woods and put a lot of these into a pie, with francolin or guinea fowl, using an old .410 s/s. Back then everything was fair game, now I hesitate before killing something I don't absolutely have to.
