FA holsters
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anybody tried to make their own holsters out of materials other than leather or Kydex.
I've seen this vide clip of a guy making a holster from PVC pipe and I was wondering if I could possibly make one out of plastic.
Anyone here tried that ?

Re: FA holsters
what exactly is thermo plastic ?
I'm in the process of getting some mouldable plastic and I want to try it. Would the thermo plastic that you're referring to be the same / similar?
With mouldable plastic, you heat it up, it becomes malleable and then you form the plastic to the shape you want, cool it down and voila ! very similar to Kydex but I think it could be easier to work with. I can't comment on Kydex because I have not tried to work with it.

Re: FA holsters
On this subject, I want to start with a few holster for my older FA's but it is hard tracking down some thermo-moldable plastic sheets.
Have anybody heard of have dealings with a company called Surfex. Based in Jo'burg they are apparently the Kydex supplier/agent for South Africa.
Their e-mail bounces back and the phone number goes to a person in RDS Money Matters which apparently is involved in the business. Still waiting a reply from Kydex.
Anyway anybody has a supplier for thermo-moldable plastic sheets in South Africa?

Re: FA holsters
If u haven't found the plastic yet try www.maizey.co.za I thick they call it ABS plastic. It's got a "leather" grain on one side. Works well with a heat gun but in a pinch you can even work it over a gas stove. I prefer the 2mm thick one but 1.5mm is easier to work with.

Re: FA holsters
Maizey ABS works pretty well. I have made holsters and mag carriers from it.
