Default Anyone scoped a .22 recently

If you have would you share what you put on, where you got it and what you paid and lastly, would you buy it again?

Not recently Andrew, I guess the answer for you would depend on the use, hunt or target.

I've got an old Tasco world class 4x40 on mine, very nice fine crosshair.
If I was a young bloke these days and would like to hunt with it there is no doubt in my mind that it would be some kind of dot/red dot sight.

I've got a 2-8x28 Bushnell Banner on my Musgrave, but that was mounted on the rifle when it was bought in the mid 80s... the scope is good for the application, nice and compact too, keeping in mind it's close to 30y old. It helps me shoot the gun sub-MOA on a good day, so I'm happy. If I had to replace it today, for whichever reason, I would look hard at a 3-9x40 Prostaff as on my 308, or perhaps the 2-7x33, if I wanted something more compact.

I have a Tasco 4X32 on mine which my brother put on it when he bought the Brno in 1983. It has a 100m parallax setting an I was looking as changing it for this reason only.

I do want something small like a 32/33 objective lens.

I see S&O have a deal on a Bushnell 3-9X but saw some reports that the image quality is poor. Now out to 75m one hardly needs anything more than 4X so I would be happy with a $X again.

I see the Prostaff's are well thought of and are modestly priced.

I want to use the rifle for target and honing my shooting skills but would also like my grandsons to hunt with it, Rabbits and Guineafowl, perhaps Doves.

Have a look on Nikon's website, there is a rimfire-specific Prostaff too, which may have a shorter parallax setting.

I suspect my Banner, being quite a bit older, was still built in the US at the time.

Nikon does make one called a rimfire, with fixed magnification as mentioned :

Because I routinely shoot mine out to 100m, I'm happy with 100m parallax setting. I've run some Strelok tests, and by running HV ammo and tuning the zero, I can sufficiently approximate my 308's 0-200m trajectory with the .22 from 0-100m. By employing half-size targets, this really opens up the possibilities for really inexpensive, but representative practice shooting.

(Dumbass, clicked "post" before I finished...)

For the reasons above, I believe one can very successfully run a same or similar scope one the .22 as on your hunting rifle, as the relative sight pictures will be very similar.

First crawl, then walk, then run, then drive.

Leave a scope for a non target .22 as simple as can get.
