Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
What's nice about the trout farms is that catches are usually guaranteed, and you don't need thousands of expensive gear thingies to get going! For future reference, of course... :P

Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
Oi, do not try to confuse people. Fly-fishing is my most expensive hobby by far. It only starts with trout, then you go to geelvis and then you have to catch a tiger and then a leery and the list goes on. I don't have a tuna or a marlin yet. Waiting for my children to leave the house so I can sell it to cover the deposit.

Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
I totally agree. When I started 6 years ago I always asked myself who in their right mind can justify spending that much $$$$ on the top rods, reels etc..... UUUhhhmm, cough, the rest is history. Yellow fever is a serious disease, not to be taken lightly.
And just to end off in true Gunsite style fly guys. Large Mouth or Small mouth, as long as she swallows ;)

Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
Ah, yes I know, but I was referring to the trout farms you can visit for a "quickie". You just rent the equipment to see if you like the sport. I like it, but not as much as my regular artlure fishing. However, all fishing is taking one hell of a break at this stage...

I think we should do a Gunsite yellowfish day.

Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
While on this topic, where would I find the closest Tiger fish from Pretoria? Need to cross it off my list when I get back home at the end of October. I know of Tiger Lodge at Jozini Lake, but its very pricey and quite a drive from Pretoria. Any ideas?

Re: Where to go fishing (Pretoria area)
Tiger Lodge is there, but there are most certainly no guarantees that you will catch anything with stripes. Pick the right guide and do the trip to Botswana. (He says while clutching his wallet and shaking his head).
