Re: Old Bushbuck
Congrats! Not much biltong out of that one and it may be a little tough.

Re: Old Bushbuck
To me a stalk is down to two numbers - not the 3 number distance. Now I am not knocking your hunt, I have never hunted bush buck or even been on a bush buck hunt. So my statement is more of a question in regard to are they that hard to hunt, do you stalk a bushbuck to 300m or I once read somewhere about them being gone long before you get into a visual distance. That being said I assume its only where they hunted, cause here on the coast we often see them standing in the farm land at Sards and they generally just stand and look at you. But on showing a mate this , he replied good luck trying that out Grahams Town way, dogs or no bush buck even seen. So do you mean you battled to get with in that range because of animal or terrain was real hard to use. Or that if you went closer it would just disappear. This B/Buck thing is starting to look interesting.

Re: Old Bushbuck
Hey TM Bushbuck are relatively easy to get close to providing they are out of the thick stuff. Just last week a got 2 with clients both around 30m.
Its when they in that thick haak en steek bush that one has to shoot further across a valley for example. They normally sunning themselves in an opening.
This specific ram was hunted as such. Also I was looking for an old bugger. Coulda shot others with longer horns at much closer distances but wanted this guy.
Was hunted about 10km inland from Port Alfred.

Re: Old Bushbuck
ok - was wandering about the term stalk for that distance. Was given 2 Blesbuck once - last two of about 60. Get em you can have em. Ha Ha stalk ended at 600m or further. They were survivors.
