Going on my first hunt this weekend!
Hi Guys,
Going on my first hunt this weekend. Not sure what the place is called, but going with a colleague from work! Really looking forward to it.
Hoping to get myself a kudu. Been a dream of mine for ages to shoot one.
Any tips for a first timer? Unfortunately not using my own rifle as im still waiting for the licence to come through.
Cheers,
Mag

Good luck!
If you do not get a kudu, what else are you going for?

Good luck! Kudu is a tough hunt as your first one. Suggest you consider something easier for your first outing.
On Messor's shot placement diagram, remember you are shooting for a point inside the animal. Just latching slightly above and behind the "elbow" won't cut it if the animal stands at an angle. Easy mistake to make if the pressure is on and adrenaline pumping.

Re: Going on my first hunt this weekend!
Good luck on your hunt! I hope that it's a great experience for you!
Yes, indeed.
Make sure that you have confidence in the equipment that you'll be using. If you feel uneasy or uncertain about a shot, don't take it. You'll have more opportunities to shoot but if you are rushed and just take the shot because someone told you to, you might find yourself tracking after a wounded animal for the rest of the day.
Hope that you enjoy it!

The "shoot! shoot!" from the guide or PH can wait. Take your time. Do the basics right and in less than 2 weeks time you will eat biltong.
