    Default IR laser

Who stocks these? I want to move away from a dedicated NV riflescope to a rifle mounted IR laser and NV goggles. This is for Bushpig hunting.

Although IR lasers are made, they are not widely available. There are alternatives, of course.

I once used a setup, of NV goggles and laser on rifle. The laser was a normal (visible) red type. But the bright dot on the bushpig, totally blinded me when viewed through the goggles. The solution was to remove one of the 3 button cells, and replace it with a metal button. This reduced the voltage and lowered the light intensity to be invisible with the naked eye. Through the NV goggles, it was working perfectly. So the procedure is to zero and test the laser at full voltage, then reduce for NV use. Quite cheap too.

Later, I upgraded to a dedicated NV scope on the rifle. Works better IMHO.

But I wonder, wheither modern (newer tech) lasers will work the same.

There are some how to's on the internet to convert standard lasers to IR lasers. IIRC you need to start with a green lazor.

I got some info of the net and the guys are doing well with a laser and goggles.

Another reason for using laser is so that my shooting partner can see what pig im shooting at and vice versa. This week we both shot the same pig.....

    Thanks for the input.

Brought in some entry level units with IR and visible green laser. Price was very reasonable (under R2K) and all went to one customer who has reported it works very well.
Will be bringing in a few more in about a month.
