Default Huntex 2015 possible issues SOLVED.

We do not agree with the current policy of a mandatory unloading and " locking" of firearms being forced upon visitors and exhibitors at Huntex Cape 2014.

All legal firearms owners have been issued with firearm licences for their firearms and as a pre requisite by law each one of them had to obtain a SAPS issued competency certificate. We are competent and responsible firearm owners.

We do not agree to be subjected to a possible mandatory search and a forced unloading and "locking" of our SD firearm to enable us to visit or exhibit at Huntex. We also do not accept that our customers and Huntex visitors should be subjected these procedures.

We suggest the following as acceptable and prudent procedures:

    1) If a visitor/customer intends to buy an accessory for his firearm and that would require of him to present the firearm at an exhibitor's table or booth (for example trying out or buying a holster for a hanfgun by fitting his own handgun) it should be a requirement that he first goes to a designated safe area where the firearm can be unloaded or checked to be unloaded, chamber flag inserted and bagged. Alternatively, if the customer does not want to be subjected to that procedure, he should arrive at the show with the particular firearm already made safe with a chamber flag inserted and bagged.

    2) a visitor should not be allowed to unholster a handgun at all at the exhibitor's counter and/or unbag a firearm at an exhibitor's table or counter which has not been made safe and a chamber flag inserted prior to him presenting the firearm at the table or counter.

    3) no visitor should be subjected to a possible mandatory search and a forced unloading and subsequent "locking" of his firearm.

We will not be attending Huntex in future as visitors or as an exhibitor if it is manadatory to be subjected to a possible search and a forced unloading and "locking" of our SD and other firearms.

We have already paid our exhibitors deposit for Huntex 2015 and we will endeavour to enter into discussions with the Huntex organisers to resolve the issue and get to an acceptable outcome based on the abovementioned suggested procedures.

I fully agree with this, Khumba.
What's a big plus as well, is that it's not a fit-of-rage rant, but a calm and thought-through response.

Now where is that [LIKE] button, even willing to loose set deposit.

Wish I had a metric "truckload" of $$ to refund each exhibitor that pulls out, if Huntex cannot come to a reasonable solution.

As mentioned on the other thread, in retail we vote with our wallets.
