If I remember correctly most gunsmith had to become qualified Tool and Die makers.
    The skills are the same.

    It is a starting point.

    Hi Guys,

For all you prospective gunsmiths, there is hope. I'm currently studying at HTL Ferlach, the world's leading school in Gunsmithing and Weapons Engineering. The course is about 4 years long and is absolutely free!!! Your only expenses are your living costs, books, materials etc(about €550 a month). This is no slap dash course, students are taught to build guns from scratch with great precision. The only downside is the course in German, but I learned to speak German in about a years time.

If you are interested, it is best to apply now, seeing as students are having fist fights to get into this place. The new school year starts September 2015, which leaves some time to prepare.

    link for the school.., http://www.htl-ferlach.at/
Link for the the Housing... http://www.kolpinghaus-ferlach.at/

If anybody is interested i'd be more than happy to show you the ropes. Feel free to message me

Oh, and in terms of work, all students are usually swooped up by companies such as Steyr Mannlicher and so on
