    Default Lead for sinkers

    Hi Guys

Can anyone maybe direct me to where in the Cape Town area I can buy lead blocks I can use to make sinkers?

Go to the range. Sift through the backstop (while nobody is shooting). Melt and pour.

Do not think you save that much in melting your sinkers if you need to buy lead ingots.

As people suggested try getting scrap lead for free or go snorkeling at low tide.

Try battery shops. They usually break up old car batteries and sell the lead as scrap metal

Battery lead is very dangerous, dont use it.

Take your diving gear and take a trip to Gordons bay. I used to dive Crosses and pull out lead there. I actually gave away a whole bag of sinkers just the other day. But, if youre properly prepped (and if you have access to a boat) you could pull out about 30-40kg in a day. Otherwise if you just dive from the side, you could get about 5-10kg. Just a mission to get out of teh water with that much weight

Take old spark plugs - work just as well; just beat down the sparking gap.

Unfortunately not that well when sliding whole bonnies or yellowtail Still a good idea when scratching although not sure how well they would degrade?
