agree I have a few of these, you can basically do anything with them. cut meat, chop wood, and do surprisingly fine work if they are nice and sharp.tough as old boots. they do however tend to be a heavy carry. they are basically a survival knife. the nice thing about them is they just wont break. only downfall I have experienced with these marvelous knives is the sheath construction and the wood boring worms they tend to have living in the wood. a good spray of insecticide every now and then seems to help. they are available in 3 sizes small medium and large. I find he medium or normal issue is the best weight. a good edge with a diamond file keeps them super sharp for ages. I think Wayne Morgan who I mentioned earlier imports new khukris every few months and at very reasonable prices

I phoned up Heavin Forge but they said that the knives were a special project for Kruger Park, and they don't do orders. I really want to support local so if anybody knows of a knife maker who may be able to help preferably in the cape town area?
I can't see your location, but an airgun shooting friend of mine does MAGNIFICENT custom work that has 'machine-made' precision. He operates out of Parys. He is a photographer and artist by profession, hence his eye (and attitude) towards perfection. I have yet to hear a bad word about his quality and workmanship, or his attitude (considering that some custom knife makers I have had contact with have a God-complex).

Go here to see his stuff.
