Just thought I would share something I always carry in my packs, whether I am hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, everything.

I made myself a small little "seiltjie" from fabric I bought at the nearest canvas store many moons ago, it's about 2m x 1.5m, I made rings at the 4 corners and attached a meter of rope at each.
Its multiple use let me tell you, I have used it to:

Cover my sleeping blanket to keep the frost off it(or me) in winter.
Cover food or packs when out hunting.
Sat out hail storms and thunder storms under it.
Made instant v-tents with it to sleep under.
Made shade between branches to sit under.
Carried fish from the river in it.
Used it as a ground canvas on damp ground.
    Collected rain water with it.
Carried food(aka dead animals) in it.
Wore it like a poncho in the rain.
X1000, cant name them all now, but you get the picture.

It's small, fits into very small spaces.

And it's remarkably tough for the little money I paid for it, aka easily replaceable, should be in every survival/bug out bag.

Guys keep in mind a 2 day survival trip is not so much surviving as it is having fun learning and practising skills. 2 days without food is nothing and water will be easily gathered. So think of it as a fun weekend

I agree, easiest an lightest shelter is a good tarp. Couple that with a nice hamock (for wooded areas) and you are set and weight is minimal.

    Thanks for the post Messor.

Jip thats true, but would be nice to eat some critters though;)
