The Steyr AUG, any opinions?

Hi Guys

Anyone have any experience with the Steyr AUG? I never really liked them, but this one looks quite nice, and being a Steyr, its probably pretty good quality.

I had a 14in barreled one I carried for a decade as my issue Patrol Rifle and shot the snot out of...select fire too, although I eventually changed to the newer safety bar that would allow you to select the full auto trigger or just semi. (The AUG, like the FAMAS uses a two stage trigger for selective fire) I am not a big 'bullpup' fan but I admit I did like the Steyer...extremely reliable, modular, easy to maintain and the mags work very well. I was never crazy about the optical sight but now they make a flat top that will take the Aimpoint...a much better proposition for a working military rifle IMO. I don't pine for it but I will admit I liked it.

ikor, thats interesting, I never knew that they were issued to any US agencies. I must admit that the look does nothing for me, but I do find them interesting and different, and that does something for me.

I yet to here a bad word about them, except that they aren't STANAG compatable, but then maybe thats a good thing. ;D 42rnd mags are nice too.
