    Default Canadian BLACK POWDERfirearms regs.

Mabe of some interest to the black powder shooters here....
FLINTLOCK LONGGUNS rifles/shotguns NO LICENCE of any kind required...( can be antique or modern) must be legal age(adult)
flintlock/caplock handguns UNLESS MADE BEFORE1897 is considered a restricted weapon and must be licenced as any modern hand gun need restricted weapons licence.
CAPLOCK RIFLE......same as any modern firearm and requires a basic firearms licence.
when travelling in my bakkie,my black powder long guns can be loaded BUT no flint or cap on gun
I personally believe black powder shooters should have a good understanding of black powder, that it is an explosive and unlike smokeless, it is VERY dangerous if handled in a careless manner. IMHO

Shooting black powder firearms is great fun. A pity it's a pity black powder has become so expensive here in South Africa.

I know I am preaching to the converted, but don't be tempted to manufacture your own black powder. It's dangerous and illegal here in RSA.

I keep my limited amount of black powder handy mostly for demonstrations. It's too little to ready go to the range and shoot the whole day like we used to do in the past.
I remember back about six years ago when I burned through 1Kg of powder over a weekend.
