    Default New DSS requirment ??

    Soooo, i had an appointment to go see my DFO for new DSS applications. I got a call saying that they have become more strict and we have to comply with one of the requirements for DSS applications.

    I will include the doc, but it is as follows....

    Under dedicated sport shooting it says – “Sworn declaration from chairperson of accredited sport shooting association confirming membership”

    This means the chairperson of ITA/NSA/etc needs to do a declaration under oath for each member.

    Is this new?

    Has anyone seen or heard of this before?

    Read the document you posted... it says "any other proof"

    Nothing to see here. Move along :-{)}

    I seriously hope this isn't true. If it is, it'll cause problems aplenty. Your membership certificate (signed anyway) proves you're a member, doesn't it?

    Yes, looks like ITA has an endorsement letter etc that can be filled in and handed in with applications.

    They never asked for that on my previous applications.

    I spoke to a DFO in the Cape area earlier this year about the "Sworn Statement'. He wanted an original, not an electronic version.
    I told him a) it is not workable solution b) electronic forms are legal and c) it has always been accepted. He didn't want to send it through as he said provincial will refuse it and send it back.

    I told him to call me if it comes back that I can follow up. The license has since been approved and issued without problems.

    Tell your DFO that CFR has always accepted it in the format and IF they want to change, request that CFR contact the organisations.

    Don't worry about it...

    Endorcement letter (for the firearm.... caliber, type etc being suitable for the sport)
    Letter confirming dedicated status (For you, which also confirms membership status)

    is enough.
