Spyderco Delica 4 first impressions.
So a few months ago I managed to lose my Spyderco Persistence. Having the trusty Buck as a backup I never got around to look for a replacement. Yesterday in Blades &Triggers I was just browsing and then the Spiderco Delica 4 sort of adopted me. Lightweight, solid construction with the Emerson wave opening. I only saw the Emerson opening being described in a Youtube video but It is so natural that I got it right from the first try. I now think that every knife should open this way. I don't think I will own a EDC knife that opens another way again.
The polymer construction of the handle ensure a lightweight knife that does not drag down on your pants pocket, but it does have a nice agresive patern embossed into the handle and I'm sure that even a bloody hand would still be able to keep a grip on it.
The clip can be reversed for left handed pockets, but because of the Emerson function it only work tip up.
The blade lock in the open position with absolutely no play. Solid as what I would expect from a Spiderco.
The Delica I chose have the smooth blade but it is available in a partly serated edge as well.
I did not compare prices since it was a bit if a compulsive buy but B&T asked R1475.
So this is my new EDC companion to the FA and my first impression of this little folder is all positives and no negatives.Last edited by Skaaphaas; 03-10-2015 at 20:34.

I'm not much of a knife guy but I really like my Spyderco Delica 4 with the Emerson opening. Was a impulse buy at Safari & Outdoor a while back. Andy44 visited me Saturday with his Spyderco Sharpmaker in tow so I could get the edge to its best again. Wonderful. Andy44 got to watch some good rugby in return

Got my order in early and this was delivered just after 4 this afternoon.
Super happy, as I've always wanted a Spyderco.
