air pistol for training

I am in the market for an air pistol, to use in daily training for my kids. Which is best? Comments are welcome.

How old are they? Multishot or single shot?
If you want to practice your accuracy, get a HW40. I owned one before and accurate it is. I want one again, if only to practice at home when the weather etc are to bad to go to a range.

At home, or on the range?

Air pistols are not allowed to be discharged in a built-up area, so just take note of that.

HW 40 is very nice. If you want something you can do some drills with.

Get an Airsoft pistol. Which uses C02 or Green Gas/Butane(I think).

They look very real. Cycle the same as normal pistols. Even strip the same. And take anything from 10 to 20 bb's. Gives recoil. And nice triggers. Compaired to these C02 pellet pistols.

Obviously, if you are wanting to apply 'firearm' training, then the replica route would be better.

If you want to allow them to experience the fun and joy of learning marksmanship, then I would suggest a 'target' type air/CO2 pistol.

IMO, a repeater, in the hands of a small child, is looking for a pellet in the foot, and the 'pump' variety will hamper the fun.

A very simple bolt-action PCP or CO2 pistol allows for the kid to develop a 'pre-shot' routine... safety, hold, aim, trigger pull etc., instead of peppering a target with a multitude of random shots.

Once again, it depends on the ultimate objective.

Get a WE or Marui clone airsoft pistol... there are MANY brand replicas, and you can probably find one that closely mimics your pistol in terms of action, and weight.

Runs on Green Gas (which is basically Propane, silicone lubricant and no-odour) Propane is cheaper, and works just fine.
Check local and overseas pricing, as it's often cheaper to import directly.

Received my CP1 yesterday.

WOW... what a little gem.

I've always hated 'air' pistols, thinking them useless, in the greater scheme of things.

30mm 5 shot group at 20m... 7 shots went out to around 45mm! I can see great potential with a folding stock and a single point scope, up to around 25m as a PC gun.
