Buck 722 spitfire knife VS CRKT onion shenanigans plain edge.

Hi. Hoping someone can help me with this.

Secret Santa time at work and these are the options someone put down. Are these worth it as what I'm assuming will be an edc knife? He has a collection of knives but they didn't seem to be crkt or spyderco quality Which one would serve this knife obsessed dude best?

The 420 steel doesn't hold an edge as well as AUS8 steel. So the buck is good for camping (easier to sharpen) and the crkt is better for edc?

Buck does a very good heat treatment on their 420HC. I have a few buck knives in 420HC and it is a good usable steel. Easy to sharpen hair whittling sharp and hold a good workable edge for all my EDC needs. Most users won't be able to tell the difference between AUS8 and properly heat treated 420HC (assuming both have been correctly sharpened). Personally I find the Buck Spitfire to be a prettier knife but as you know beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks for the feedback brucezorro. Got him the buck because he thought it looked good. Glad that it's of a decent quality.
