    Default HUNTERS BISLEY SHOOT

    Hi All,

I would like to invite all the hunters to the opening day of Middelburg Bisley shooting club’s new Hunters discipline. This discipline is aimed at giving all the hunters interested a chance at shooting at longer distances than usual, and also practising the art of wind and mirage reading.

This shoot will take place on Saturday the 24th of January at Doornkop military shooting range (+-20km’s from Middelburg on the Loskop road GPS: 25*38.509’S 29*23.222’E).

    Format:
    · Targets will be life size antelope targets
    · Shots to be taken from the prone position off of a bi-pod and rear sandbag
    · 300m target will be a springbok
    · 500m target will be a Blesbok
    · 600m target will be a Blouwildebees
    · At each distance 7 shots will be taken, 2 being test shots (optional) and then 5 counting shots
    · Teams will consist of 4 shooters and wind coaching is allowed
    · 60minutes per 4 man team per distance
    · After every shot the target will be lowered and marked so that you will be able to see where it landed, thus aiding in wind call corrections.
    · Only hunting rifles allowed

    Entry:
    · Entry forms will be done on the day from 07h30, but we need to let the club know how many shooters/teams will attend so that the can make the necessary arrangements. Please contact one of the following club officials to make arrangements:

    o Kallie Witthaus – 083 635 5924 witthaus.kallie@columbus.co.za
    o Willem O’Neill – 082 828 5456 willem.oneill@sasol.com
    · Shooting will begin from 08h30
    · Cost per shooter = R100-00

    Equipment needed:
    · Rifle
    · 25 rounds
    · Hearing protection mandatory
    · Ground/shooting mat
    · Binoculars or spotting scopes
    · Pen

    General:
    · Please bring own chairs, umbrellas and refreshments for the day
    · After the shoot there will be a “bring and braai”
    · Fires and braaiers will be provided
    · NB: no alcohol may be used before or during the shoot, once all rifles are down and the fires are lit we may open a few cold-ones

    Regards
    George

Yeah I agree, yet I translated the afrikaans notice we received from the club. Most of the guys always wear eye protection.

So a beer on the range under strict range officer control is dangerous, but several before driving home on the public roads is OK even if it is illegal?

Don't you just love "responsible" gun owners?!
