30-06 Musgrave Identification
Hi All
Can someone please help with the identification of this Musgrave 30-06 that I bought from my father. He bought this rifle new in the mid 1970's and its been an old faithfull in the family ever since. He can't remember what model Musgrave this is or what bolt action this is or any other information regarding the rifle. The rifle only has the following markings on it......Musgrave, 30-06, the serial number M400 - xxx and Impala. Is this a Vrystaat model, a Mod 80 or 90, maybe a M98? Some info would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 30-06 Musgrave Identification
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the light can only hold 1 round in the chamber. This one can hold 3 with and 1 in the chamber.

That's the RSA action that is single shot.

Re: 30-06 Musgrave Identification
Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does the single shot refer too? Single shot at a time or how many rounds it can hold or something else.....

Re: 30-06 Musgrave Identification
The rifle has a magazine that can hold 4 rounds plus and additional round in the chamber. Unfortunatly I cant upload the images of the magazine at the moment. It seems I've reached my data cap for this post.

Re: 30-06 Musgrave Identification
Looks like a push-feed action. Thus not a Vrystaat, RSA or M98. I've never seen a mod80 or mod 90 in the flesh, but I suspect the latter is push-feed (close to being a copy of the post-64 Winchester actions, yours also has a Winchester type safety)
