Looking for a High End .22 Rifle
Hi All,
I'm in the market for a high end .22 rifle. Budget ~R10k. I'm looking for a "varmint" type rifle. Something with a heavy barrel and no open sights. I'll fit a bipod, silencer and a good hi-powered scope. I want to use it for long range target shooting (long by .22 standards at least), and also for some dove and small game hunting. So accuracy would be the biggest selling point for me.
My heart longs for an Anschutz although I think they might be a bit out of my budget range.
What's generally available at the moment in terms of make and models? I'm going to go look tomorrow, although I'm in PE for the next few months so won't have the biggest selection of shops to go to.
Anyone have some suggestions as to what they think would be a good fit?
Thanks in advance.
Dave

Ruger 10-22 Target? Bull barrel, good stock, no open sights, can fit a bipod without hassles. Not sure what they go for or who would have stock unfortunately.
Good luck with your hunt!

Cz455 varmint would be my pick.
Have they brought in any EM332s into SA? They are fantastic little target rifles and extremely well made but at a reasonable price.

Look at the Savage Mark ii series. Lots of options. And Accu-Trigger. Safari & Outdoor or Savuti.

Re: Looking for a High End .22 Rifle
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Ghost don't want a semi, I've only got competency for bolt-action.
Marshy they Sako's are in the R20k region . Double my budget unfortunately.
Thanks Bubezi will take a look at the Savage range.
Does anyone know who the importer is for CZ rifles? The varminter looks right up my ally. Any idea of a rough price?
Thanks

I think Formalito are the importers. Not 100% sure of this.

Formalito import CZ. Are the Quads really 20k?! The last time I saw they were 10k?

Re: Looking for a High End .22 Rifle
You will be much happier if you take the time to buy a good second hand gun because there are lots of awesome guns being sold, new and old, that have great prices and great accuracy.
Take a look at junkmail ,guntree ,airrifle.co.za and Jaracal daily till one pops up.
If you want to go the WMR route you will find "special" guns coming in often. The price of .22 wmr is R4 though.
