My wife visited him in hosp. I baby-sited the kids. But he is awake and responsive, his vitals are a bit unsteady and his BP is very low. His thumb was not amputated, he also sustained a lot of deep lacerations climbing through and walking through the broken window glass. The breathing tube is out of his throat so he can now at least talk. The bullet passed between ribs missed the aorta narrowly and are now still lodged close to his shoulder. He need to get into theater to remove and close up as well as tending to his hand. The bone in his thumb is basically obliterated, I know not how the doctors will save it but they have a plan I assume.

He is still in ICU and not out of the woods, but things does look a lot more positive than this morning.

Really sorry to hear about the ordeal but good on him for putting up a fight. Hope he makes a full fighting recovery!

Sorry to hear. Speedy recovery. Thanks for the tips. We are still fairly quite here in the Boland Western cape, but expect that troubles will reach here as well. Seems GP has really become gangster paradise. My daughter and two grand children live there. They are anti gun, so I can only hope for the best. They know it is not safe. Daughter was held up at gun point in CT some year ago.

This is ridiculous. We had a shootout in Edelweiss on Tuesday night. Also shot at the guy as soon as he went out to inspect. He answered back with 15 rounds. Springs is full up with these guys at the moment.

Any idea of the ammo he was using: Paintballs/solids/pepper balls/ceramic?
Did he land any hits?
What sort of range was the engagement?
How many rounds did he manage to shoot?
How many BG were there?

Obviously I do not want to stress out your buddy who is recovering, but this info would be helpful too.

He used normal paint-balls, he must have emptied the hopper, there were blue markings inside his home, on the outside walls, floating in his pool on his neighbors walls, just about everywhere.

The engagement distance started at very close range. He just exited his bedroom they entered from the lounge area (I guess 5-7 yards). This is where he was most probably hit in the hand. The distance increased as they scampered outside, as he were barefoot and he followed them outside through the broken window.

He must have scored multiple hits, just because of the rule of averages and the sheer number of markers fired, but not sure how many.

There were at least two bad guys and at least two different firearms used. No brass just bullets, bullet fragments and holes, so it is assumed to be revolvers.

It was while he pursued them outside that he must have been hit in the chest. He never felt any of the hits, only realized he was hit after he broke off the chase, he actually told the paramedic that he thought it was something from the paintball gun that hit him, she had to explain to him that it was a GSW.
