IPSC, How Do I Get Cracking?

Howsit,

I've got the gear, got the ammo, want to start IPSC.

Feel free to copy my bulleted list and post reply against corresponding bullet, whatever is easiest.

I've got some questions:

• Who can I contact at Frontier? No numbers work from SAPSA website and mails are unanswered.
• Is there such a thing as an NSO/classifier or can I rock up and shoot?
• Can I do a shoot as a guest to check it out before joining SAPSA and paying fees etc? Will obviously pay range fees for the day. I'm a safe and competent shooter familiar with the SAPSA rulebook and am an IDPA EXP if that makes any difference.
• Can I walk into a 3 gun shoot and compete? No classifier etc?
• Can I shoot at any club after I have registered with SAPSA?
• Can I shoot level II matches?
• Heard through the grapevine the league shoot on the 14th of March at Frontier is moving to the 21st March, true?

Oh, and I'm a member of Frontier IDPA club, MDPC.

Any info would be appreciated.

Yes you can pitch at a club and just shoot or observe, best to give them a heads up. Guests are welcome.
On a club level there is no NSO/Classifier. You have to do a Classifier if you wish to shoot a LevelII or III like a league or national.
You could just walk into a 3gun shoot if you have a club level one other wise they are mostly leagues which are from this year being run as a competition called the Grand Tournament.

Hi Michaelrp,

Frontier is a very nice club. I just pitched up there last month and they were more than willing to show me around and introduce me to the sport. John Loupellis is the guy to talk to!

This month, 21 feb, is the 3gun shoot. next month will be the handgun league again.

I do know that someguys only do the handgun section of the 3gun shoot if you are keen on shooting at this months' meet!


the fact that you are part of the frontier IDPA might imply that you have already paid the range fees. I do know that for IPSC you have to be a member of the NWPSA - If this is only for national level, I am not sure.
