    Elderly man murdered in Parkview

PARKVIEW – Parkview police have confirmed that an elderly man was murdered in his home on 1 March.

The incident occurred in a block of complexes on Emmerentia Avenue in Parkview in the early hours of the morning.
The man was reportedly shot twice.
Parkview police spokesperson, Lloyd Ramovha confirmed the case was currently under investigation, however, the motive for the murder is still unclear.
Ramovha noted that nothing was reported missing from the house, but it is believed entry was gained through a window.
The victim’s body was discovered by his wife who was alerted by a private security company that the alarm had been activated.
More details to follow as they become available.

The father of a friend of ours. The funeral is at 14:00 today.

    Sorry to hear that. :(

I was looking last night at some windows that could be used to force entry, and I'm wondering if the time may not have come to install some spike strip onto the inside sills, in addition to the burglar bars.

Wait... the alarm was activated and his wife went and checked?

The news report is badly written, but they did not have all the info I guess and even my info is 3rd hand.

He and his wife as well as 3 of their grandchildren were that home asleep at the time in a "secure" complex.
In the early hours of the morning he heard a sound upstairs and went to investigate.
He disturbed an unknown number of bad guys, trying to break in, and was shot though the window from the outside. A bullet past though his heart killing him. He was 78 years old.
    The BG/BG's then ran away.

It was when his wife went looking for him she found the body. I'm unclear of when or if the alarm was activated.

Later when someone said "They did not take anything" his grandchild replied "They took my Granddad".
