    Default Snake ID help?

    Hi Guys,

I came home the other day, dogs face swollen, and now 2 days later found this in the garden. Gsp obviously got hold of it so ID may be difficult.

Earlier in the month he had an encounter with a rinkhals so paranoid as hell at the moment.

    Thanks

surprising your dogs face is swollen? I think the swelling must be from something else?

    hence my comment.

surely the dog should be barely alive? They are venomous snakes?

yea I am sure it must have been something else as the swelling has gone down. But when I got home and saw that I immediately just thought snake. And then to see this was not very sobering.

At least this time he came off for the better. Was rather hoping though that he would avoid snakes in future.

Springer, do you have any tips on training for the dog to avoid snakes?

Wade, the fang could have just scratched him when he shook it about, contact does not mean death.
