    Default Firearm storage on holiday

Hi, we are like most going away on holiday, i would really like to take my FA with while traveling but once we reach the destination i would like to store it till we travel back. Can you store/check in a FA at the police station for example or any other place for that matter for safe keeping?

If you HAVE to store it, best is a local firearm dealer.

I would book it in at a reputable gun shop?

You could book it into a gunshop for safe keeping. I am confused though as to how you may need it while driving but not at your destination?

Agree with Big T. Do you have really good reason not to carry your firearm with you? You do not pick the place and time to protect yourself and your loved ones - the crooks do that for you. By storing your firearm you are making yourself a soft target.

It all boils down to probability:
Traveling: Probability of something going wrong while driving is much higher until we reach the hotel. At the hotel the probability of attack is much reduced although still present at a very small degree.
At destination: The probability of attack at the hotel vs losing the FA by not storing it correctly at the hotel is much higher in the losing it side. So probability of it being lost/stolen at hotel is 50/50 since i cannot store it the legal way.
Overall having it with my while traveling is much better than the thousands of FA owners leaving their FA at home in the safe because there is no way to store it at the destination. I can CC most of the time at destination but i will be swimming, going to the beach and i will not have full control over the FA at that times.

Dude its your call, I personally think your stacking the probability in favour of a predetermined outcome. You are likely at greater risk of crime at your destination than when driving at 120km/h. Nasty things happen to people on holiday.

Does your hotel not have a mounted safe like all hotels these days do?

Some folk from Jhb just stopped in Hiberdene, went for a walk on the beach, assaulted and robbed, this happened today. These guys ( read fuckers ) will take anything from you, be prepared.
