Did My 1st IPSC Shoot
So I decicided to take the IPSC plunge and try this thing out.
There was a 3 gun shoot at Frontier two weeks ago, so I took out my new Shadow (that I’ve only shot once before), got a CR Speed rig and headed off to the shoot.
Initial impressions are it’s a lot faster paced than IDPA. Man I like shooting out of cover and reloading when I want to!! Running and gunning, heehaa!
The rifle stages were also cool, banging away at 10m and then plates at 100m on the same stage!
There were also a lot more shooters than an IDPA shoot, probably 3 times as many, so I could look and learn, which was good, to be honest I’m not THAT familiar with IPSC rules, whereas with IDPA I “game” it and run on the fringe of the rules.
All went well, I managed not to be DQ’d and had a good time with good people.
To my surprise I won the production pistol division as well as the standard manual shotgun division and finished 4th in open rifle division.
I like my Glocks, a 35 is in the pipeline to try out standard.
I will be back.

Re: Did My 1st IPSC Shoot
Welcome to the greatest shooting sport in the world ! As far as rules go, there are a lot fewer of them and those that are there are fairly obvious. Good luck for the future.

Like.
Coming from IDPA, its like having both hands that are tied behind your back being untied. Just be careful when you go back. The temptation to drop loaded mags and break cover gets very strong

Re: Did My 1st IPSC Shoot
My dad shot the shoot with me, for the first two stages he shot from cover and did flat footed reloads, was very funny and everyone had a good chuckle.
