Northcliff businessman murdered while protecting family

Johannesburg - A Northcliff businessman was shot dead outside his luxury home as he protected his wife and son from a bullet that was fired by robbers, Netwerk24 reported on Tuesday.
André Botha, 59, was shot dead on Saturday afternoon after he and his wife, Sarah, and their son, Luke, 29, returned home from lunch.
Just two days before his death he had bought a R5m Lamborghini. He was proudly showing off his new car to his son when a car stopped in front of their house and an armed man jumped out.
"My husband jumped in front of me and my son and a shot was fired," said Sarah.

Botha’s wife said he used his wealth to help people and 15 years ago helped a matriculant study to become a paramedic. That paramedic was on the scene on Saturday trying to save Botha’s life.
Botha died in hospital.
The robbers fled with his son's Rolex watch, wedding rings and wallets.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said no one has yet been arrested for the murder.

This past week or 2 we have had about three incidents where the use of a FA could have stopped deadly attacks. One lady got home and was attacked and stabbed to death in her driveway. The other was where a homeowner was standing with his Brother in Law was standing on the back porch when two BG's, one with a FA and the other with a knife jumped over the back wall. The homeowner and Brother in Law tried to keep them out the house but they were over powered. The BG the FA against the homeowner's neck and pulled the trigger. He was lucky and the bullet grazed him. The other incident, was a crowbar gang attack. The occupants were lucky to lock themselves and the kids in the bedroom. What if the BG's decided to break down the bedroom door....

I play hockey with his friend of 15+ years. Really terrible story. All of his employees are devastated, as is the family.

WZ, sadly I agree with you. Most work so hard but can't spend their wealth on what they worked so hard for. I understand he posted a pic of himself on FB in Lamborghini, that same morning. To add, I would rather keep personal information etc. out of social media.
