Re: Black Talons
Black Talon has not been produced since the early 90s. The redesigned Ranger series replaced it. AFAIK there is no ranger available at the moment. What calibre you using.

Re: Black Talons
Rather look for 124gr +p Gold dots. More modern design, more likely to be available.

Re: Black Talons
If you find some Gold Dots grab them. Last I checked Camdix had XTP and supreme SXT neither would be my first choice but they are the best I can find at the moment.

Re: Black Talons
I read somewhere, can't remember where, that the Remington Golden Sabre was designed by the same guy who designed the Black Talon. Apparently he took his original design and improvedd it. The sub-caliber front end of the bullet with a driving band on the rear has definitely resolved the core-jacket separation issues.

Gold Dot=Bonded=No core separation.

Re: Black Talons
I understand that most test show the Sabre to be prone to jacket slippage hence why they introduced a bonded version. Do you know anyone who has in stock. BTW the only stoppage my 17 has had with factory ammo was the 124gr+P sabre. YMMV

Re: Black Talons
Kalahari arms should have in stock.
Interesting that you've had a stoppage with them. I've shot about 5 or 6 boxes out without any problems. Low felt recoil and extremely low muzzle flash.

Re: Black Talons
Gold Dot is my default go to load in all service calibres. I would also gladly carry Federal HST or tactical or Winchester Ranger T or Ranger bonded if they were available here but they are not currently. Generally Gold Dot can be found (though not at the moment) and they always seem to perform as well as can be expected.
