Hunting permits
Why is there such a difference in the price of hunting permits between the provinces? And you need one for each province you go hunting in!
On a side issue, these permits are supposed to be filled in and returned to the authorities to aid them with game sensus. How many people do return their permits after the hunting season?
There is talk of a new permit system which will be governed by hunting bodies. You will need to apply for a specific animal being hunted in a specific location, each time you go hunt. It will be cheaper, but lotsa admin for the governing bodies.
Isn't something like this already implemented in KZN?
What about game ranches with certificates of adequate enclosre?Last edited by THOMAST; 01-02-2010 at 14:53.

Thomas, you are only supposed to fill in certain types of animals taken. As far as I know you only record endangered species that have been shot. In the event that you only hunted general game then there is nothing to record and no reason to submit the licence to nature conservation. Not that I am saying the system works...........

Arnold,
Sorry that I missed you at the range last weekend.
I got my permit from Safari&Outdoor last year @R170.

MyLani, this is what I'm bitching about. A hunting permit for the Eastern Cape is some R25.00. Same hunting permit in the Western Cape is R170.00, whether you buy it from Post Office or Safari & Outdoor or Parow Arms. The costs differ from province to province! Why??? System is fooked!

Wasn't aware of that.
What's the fees for KZN and Gauteng?
There is far more hunting available in the Eastern Cape than Western Cape so it doesn't make sense....A roaring Lion kills no game
