Default When the good guy looses the fight

I did not know where to post it but this does seem the most applicable.

Let me tell you guys a bit about what happened in my family last year.
Today while being interviewed by the police it opened a bunch of wounds and I would like to share even if it just for me to get it off my chest.

Last year September my parents have just finished building their new house in a very "safe" upmarket golf estate. They just moved in the week before and were very happy with their new house having built it just the way they wanted.

The one evening they joined me and my wife for dinner and we had a very nice evening. That next morning 4 o'clock I got the most horrible call of my life. My dad has been shot in his new house and did not survive.
I rushed over immediately to find my dad on the floor and my mom sitting with him. A bunch of neighbors have gathered and the EMS greeted me with horrible words of "sorry he did not make it."

Two burglars dressed in security type uniforms climbed through the window pointed a flashlight and a gun at my mom. She woke up and started screaming at them "what do you want what do you want?"
The one attacked my mom and my dad rushed over to help her. The one burglar opened fire shooting at my mom but missed, the second shot hit my dad in the head and he fell right there closing his eyes for the last time. After this more shots were fired and they fled taking only a handbag and a cellphone.

Today my dad is gone my mom alone and me and my brother without the man who raised us.

It has haunted us ever since that it is so easy for them to just take a life.

The police investigation yielded nothing and these scumbags are still out there today. I like to think that if my dad did not fight things could have been worse for them both. At least he put up a fight and stopped their plans.

This has been very tough on our family and slowly we are trying to get on with our lives.

So everyone out there be safe look after your own and be willing to take that bullet for the ones you love and more importantly be ready to hand out the bullet that can save all of you.

All of you be safe out there.

Sorry to hear about it gertjie. I suspect you'd do good to talk to someone professional.

Words seem so insignificant and trite at times like this. I am truly sorry for your loss and what you are going through. Strongs brother.

Damn, dude. It's never great to have to go through these things. Nor to hear about it - not hearing about it, but rather knowing that something like this has happened.

Maybe these guys tripped running across a train track somewhere, right before the train came rushing past.

    Strongs dude.
